"Alexa, play my playlist. Again. For the 10th time today"
I am pretty sure the title was self-explanatory. Well, if some still didn't get it, Yes, this post is dedicated to Alexa.
Nah I am just kidding, this post is all 'bout music. To all the music lovers there, I feel you people. I am a proud music lover. This is probably the only trait that matches my zodiac sign. (Find out what it is!)
Music is and always has been a VERY important part of my life. I am NOT kidding. I used to listen to music and kick to it in my mother's womb. If that doesn't prove it, I don't what will. My whole life I have heard many genres of music. From classical to Rock, I have heard it all. Okay, I haven't tried K-pop or Spanish music. (No, not even Despacito.) I have been learning classical music since I was 5. Nope, not kidding, and I am still learning. But noo... That's not the only thing I listen too. In fact, I listen to classical music only with my family. The change from my family's taste of music entered in 4rt grade. I started listening to regional songs. Then came 5th grade, where I obsessed over Coldplay. *jazz hands* Coldplay has a funny story- sorry "anecdote" to it.
One afternoon, when I was too bored, I plugged a pair of earphones to my uncle's old walkman which he gave me. What is a walkman? Well... This is the walkman my uncle had.
Either way, I saw this band called Coldplay on it and decided to hear 3 songs. Those 3 songs are still in my playlist. The 3 songs were Yellow (ahh the most famous along with viva la Vida), A Message (killer guitar), and clocks (my favorite). The golden 3 was stuck in my head all through 5th grade. 6th grade bought in 2 new songs of Coldplay (courtesy of youtube)- Adventure of a lifetime and Paradise.
7th grade was pretty much the same, just had one more song to it - Hymn for the weekend. Yep, this song is still in my playlist.
8th grade is when the REAL music I listen to these days comes in. And yes it is this year during the quarantine.
These days, my playlist is full of what regular 13-year-olds listen to. Yep, Pop, EDM, and Rock. I don't listen to full-on metal rock. No, I take the softer side of rock. It is... *insert drum roll here* Indie Rock. Yes, I Love Indie rock. My favorite artist is Banners. His music is AWESOME. I am listening to his music while I am writing this. Almost all of his songs are in my playlist. My favorite album is Empire On Fire. Try it.
My next favorite genre is Dance Pop. Yep, this was one of my quarantine music. The Chainsmokers' upbeat music helped through my quarantine funk. One of my favorite songs is their collabs with two of my other favorite bands: Coldplay and 5SOS. Yes, I listen to 5SOS but I don't LOVE them. They are good. That's it. They are maybe the ONLY boy band I listen to. And I don't even fangirl over them.
I listen to other artists too. American Authors are pretty awesome. I listened to Ride by 21 Pilots and it was awesome too. Though the lyrics of Cardigan by Taylor Swift has them beat. Damn, I related to this song's lyrics so much. (The "when you are young" part.) And last but DEFINITELY NOT the least -Panic! At The Disco. No wonder PATD is popular. High hopes and hey look ma I made it are just too good.
The thing is, I love my music TOO much. I can listen to my favorite songs thousands a day. BUT, I get bored with them. Easily. Only some artists last. I change my whole playlist once in 3 months. This is VERY bothersome. I have to continuously browse through new artists to see who will make the cut. To see who will be the next "Sam's Idols". This is a cycle that will repeat itself. Again and again. I guess I forgot to mention this, But uh, I don't feel very good about change in my music. Either that or I am VERY lazy. I have a strong feeling its the latter. I choose all my songs on how they make me feel and what they remind me of
Honestly, the only good part of this Quarantine is this. I have a ton of time to research new artists. Music helps people through hard times. And mine did exactly that.
Peaceā
Sam
I didn't mean to enforce my opinions on anyone, if this post seems like that. This is just my opinions. All music genres are good. I am NOT advertising any one artist.
